Submission Criteria and Technical Guidelines

Terms and Conditions

1.    Only deaf or hard of hearing artists and performers are eligible to submit work for consideration.
2.    Individuals submitting artwork for consideration must warrant that they are the sole creator of submitted works or, in the case of collaborative works, both - A) a primary creator or author of such work and B) in possession of all necessary rights and permissions needed to submit the work for consideration and potential publication, including ownership of copyright.
3.    Works submitted for consideration may not incorporate lyrics, music, imagery, or other elements whose copyright is held by other parties.
4.    All Gallery submissions must comply with the D-PAN Gallery Content Guidelines (link).
5.    Individuals are only eligible to submit material for (and potentially be selected for inclusion within) one exhibition area each month. Please note: The three exhibition areas within the Gallery are Entertainment, Media Arts and Visual Arts.
6.    Artists selected for participation within appropriate exhibition areas of the Gallery may choose to have the work(s) featured in the Gallery for sale in the D-PAN Store, housed on the D-PAN website. Works for sale in the Store will be at the discretion of the organization and will be subject to a 20% commission to D-PAN in the event of sale.
7.    The following conditions apply to items sold in The D-PAN Store:

(A)    Only those works featured in the Gallery are eligible for sale.
(B)    Works submitted as audio files may be sold as music downloads
(C)    Works submitted as video files may be sold as video downloads
(D)    If stills are submitted of an actual work, the work itself must be sold – the stills themselves cannot be sold

8.    Artists who choose to have their Gallery works sold at the D-PAN Store must acknowledge their acceptance of the D-PAN Gallery Sales Agreement (link)
9.    Artists selling the actual piece exhibited in the Gallery at the D-PAN Store are solely responsible for the delivery of any sold works to the purchaser.
10.    Artists who, by being featured in the Gallery, secure employment, commission work, obtain auditions or career opportunities resulting from their visibility on the website are asked to consider making a donation to D-PAN.
11.    Artists chosen to be featured on the D-PAN Gallery are asked to make every effort to market their appearance – e.g.  place a link to the Gallery on their professional site, promotion of the appearance on appropriate social networking vehicles; cite their selection by D-PAN as a featured artist in portfolios or CVs, etc.
12.    Artist submissions are received and reviewed on an ongoing basis. An artist may submit new works at any time.  The timing of a particular artist’s or work’s appearance within the Gallery is subject to the number of other artists and works already chosen for inclusion, and works may or may not appear immediately following acceptance.
13.    Submissions not chosen for a current submission period may be rolled into the following consideration period.
14.    The Gallery reserves the right to display 2 or more artists within the same category during a single month.
15.    Submission of works for consideration for the D-PAN Gallery constitutes permission for D-PAN to present visual representations of the works via its website and to use these images and any derivative imagery for purposes of promoting the artist and the Gallery.

Technical Guidelines

D-PAN strives to provide all featured artists with comparable opportunities in the presentation of their work. In order to achieve that objective as well as represent both the artist and their work in the best possible fashion on the website, D-PAN requires compliance with the following technical guidelines:

Artists submitting work for consideration in the Entertainment category

Performances must be submitted in video form.; only one performance may be submitted for consideration per application
Videos must be submitted in one of the following formats - Quicktime, AVI, Windows Media, FLV, mp4
Video files may not exceed 15 MB (megabytes) and must run no longer than 5 minutes in length.

Artists submitting work for consideration in the Visual Arts category

Submissions should take the form of images for a maximum of three works of art, represented by no more than 2 views per work
Images must be submitted in either a jpg, or .png format
Image files must be a minimum 800 x 600 in size
Image must be 72 dpi

Artists submitting work for consideration in the Media Arts category
Images may be submitted for a maximum of three works of art, represented by no more than 2 views per work
Work may be submitted in either video or image format
Videos must be submitted in one of the following formats - Quicktime, AVI, Windows Media, FLV, mp4
Video files may not exceed 15 MB (megabytes) and must run no longer than 5 minutes in length.
Images must be submitted in either a jpg, or .png format
Image files must be a minimum 800 x 600 in size
Image must be 72 dpi
Games, Flash Applications and other non-video media must be reviewed via a link to your site – please include a link for review, but do not send files of types other than those listed above.

Should an artist not comply with the aforementioned terms, conditions and technical guidelines, their submission will not be taken into consideration for review.
